Support SETAC
The following are our immediate needs, medium and long range goals:
Immediate:
- Advocacy and outreach of the Center
- Consolidation of donors
- Consolidation of Volunteers
Short term goals (6 months):
- Consolidation of English Classes
- Open Computer Lab
- STD Detection Unit
- HIV Support in English
Scheduled Fund Raising Activities:
- January/February – Charity Night at Banana Cantina
- February - Duckaton/Patoton at Boana Torre Malibu Hotel
- February 28 /March 1 - Expo Beauty Vallarta International 2010 at the Convention Center
Personnel
To operate the center daily are needed 3 people staff:
- Person in charge of opening and closing and maintaining of the property
- Coordinator-center operations- Scheduling services, groups and activities, volunteer recruitment (development of interview and manual), volunteer training
- Director of Public Relations and Development
Volunteers:
- Reception: 2 people with hours:
- 10:00 AM --- 02:00 PM
- 04:00 PM --- 08:00 PM
- Distribution of flyers, posters and advertising in general.
Other:
- Legal advice: ability to counsel and provide services to the under 18 youth.
- Psychologist volunteer: need to be available on a regular basis.
Goals (1 year or more)
- Young sex workers empowered and educated. English language and computer training -- either for work or school.
- Youth leader Training in the community which in turn have the mission to recruit other youths to extend the outreach for prevention and education on STD’s & HIV / AIDS a program called: Heroes.
- Fight stigma and discrimination of GLBT.
- Job Opportunities.
- Achieving self-sustainability for the center: Thrift store.
